		<description>I have read that this was the traditional way to measure age in some societies, prior to the days of the government keeping legal records of everybody.  China, for example.

I wouldn't read too much into this.  If I were religious, and my religion required me to believe that human life starts at conception, I would still have to use my DOB for all the legal stuff.  So I don't see it as an inconsistency among these people, personally.</description>
